Security first

Security is not a feature. It is the precondition.

An EMS sits between the market, the grid and multi-million-euro equipment. The security model came before the first chart.

S-01

Strong authentication, always

Password plus a second factor for every user. Brute-force attempts are blocked automatically.

S-02

Encrypted and hardened by default

Every connection encrypted end to end, secrets encrypted at rest, rate limits and hardened headers on every endpoint. Nothing sensitive in logs or URLs.

S-03

Least privilege, per plant

Admin, manager, operator and partner roles. Users see only their plants — enforced in every query and every live event.

S-04

Machine accounts fenced in

Integrations use dedicated roles limited to a network allowlist and their own endpoints. The plant poller can push readings and nothing else.

S-05

Everything audited

Every sign-in, change and integration call is recorded: who, what, when and from where. Append-only.

S-06

Your data, your servers

Self-hosted on a database you own. No third-party cloud holds your production data.

Arbitrage & high profit

Arbitrage and high profit are the point.

A solar plant sells when the sun shines — exactly when prices are lowest. Storage turns that into a scheduling problem: charge from cheap or clipped energy, discharge into the evening peak, stay inside the grid limit, the warranty constraints and the battery's state of health. Chika solves it every morning and shows the next day what it was worth.

cycles — inside the warranty
Degradation-aware dispatching: the optimiser maximises arbitrage subject to the warranty constraints (cycle budget, depth of discharge, C-rate) and the battery's state of health. One cycle a day on average, 85.5 % round-trip efficiency. Revenue is never bought with battery life.
P-01

Price arbitrage

15-minute day-ahead prices, collected automatically. Every spread is weighed against round-trip losses and the cycle budget, inside the grid limit, with your morning reserve kept. The plan is checked on P10 / P50 / P90 before it is nominated.

P-02

Curtailment capture

Inverters are sized above the grid connection, so clear midday peaks are clipped. The battery stores that energy and sells it later at a higher price.

P-03

Imbalance cost under control

Deviation × settlement price per quarter-hour, known the next morning. Forecast sources ranked by money, not by error statistics alone.

P-04

Settlement you can check

Contract price, invoice, balance account and capture ratio computed from your own meter data and prices — every invoice verifiable line by line.

Case study

Proven in production on a utility-scale solar plant.

Chika is not a concept. It runs every day on a grid-connected PV plant: it collects the plant, meter and market data, prepares the day-ahead nomination and settles the previous day. The battery dispatch was tested on the same plant's metered production before a single euro is put at risk.

in operation

Plant and meter data

Inverters and the plant controller are read over Modbus TCP; meter readings and settlement files arrive at 15-minute resolution.

in operation

Day-ahead nomination

Forecast sources are ranked by the imbalance cost they would have caused; the best one becomes the next day's nomination.

in operation

Settlement the next morning

Imbalance cost, market value and capture ratio per quarter-hour, from the plant's own meters and published prices.

BESS dispatch

The day-ahead battery plan was executed against 42 days of metered production: 97 % of the planned gain realised, 99 % of the hindsight optimum.

Platform

Everything a trading desk and a plant operator need, in one place.

One database, one deployment, one screen per decision. Built on a live plant with the people who run it.

Your plant. Your servers. The market.
F-01

Forecasting

Any PV forecast provider: partner plans, P10 / P50 / P90 services, your own models. Sources scored by accuracy and by revenue, side by side on one chart.

F-02

Market data

HUPX and SEEPEX day-ahead prices, balancing and settlement prices from the TSO — collected every morning, with retry.

F-03

Realisation

Billing meter, power-quality meter, feeders, inverter cloud — one gap-aware register per meter, cross-checked, with a clear priority for settlement.

F-04

Finance

Settlement per day and month, invoice vs expected, imbalance cost per quarter-hour, capture ratio, Excel export.

F-05

BESS optimiser

A 15-minute charge / discharge schedule from the PV forecast, prices and the battery model: SoC bounds, reserve, power, efficiency, grid limit, cycle budget. Scored against a perfect-foresight optimum and backtested on your own history.

F-06

Operations visibility

A timeline of every scheduled job, sync logs with request and response, live updates without a refresh button, and a plant journal with photos, tags and recurring tasks.

F-07

Devices & limits

Loggers, inverters (Modbus TCP), transformer stations. Three limit lines on every chart: grid connection, transformers, operating inverters.

F-08

Multi-plant portfolio

Any number of plants in one instance, each with its own devices, limits and contract. Access scoped per plant, revenue rolled up across the portfolio.

F-09

Alarms & notifications

Inverter fault, silent data source, missing forecast, diverging meters. Yellow in the live view; red by email, Telegram or WhatsApp. Next.

Integrations

Everything speaks files or APIs. Live integrations run on the reference plant; the rest are built on request, per market.

Workflow

One operative day: D-1, D, D+1.

Nomination closes at 09:00 the day before. Chika is built to make that decision well, execute it safely and know the next morning what it earned.

D-1the day before Ddelivery day D+1the morning after
01 D-1 · 07:30 – 08:15

Data in

Weather forecast, day-ahead prices, balancing results, battery state and inverter availability — collected automatically, every run logged.

02 D-1 · 08:15 – 09:00

Review, correct, create strategy

  • Adjust the PV curve by hand where local clouds are expected.
  • Set battery limits: max SoC, end-of-day reserve, charge / discharge power.
  • Create strategy → one 24 h chart with the expected financial effect; approve and export the nomination before 09:00.
03 D-1 · after 09:00

Buffer, send, verify

Setpoints are held on the EMS, sent to the PPC as each window arrives and read back to confirm.

04 D · live

Monitor and react

Plan vs real at the point of connection, PV, battery, cell balance and temperatures. Yellow warnings live; red alarms by email, Telegram or WhatsApp.

05 D+1 · morning

Daily performance report

Planned vs realised energy, revenue, avoided imbalance penalties, cycles used, every alarm and override — in your inbox.

Plan B — PPC unavailable

Heartbeat timeout or a manual switch puts the EMS in fallback mode. Nomination and strategy are unchanged.

B1 · direct Modbus

The EMS sends the buffered setpoints straight to the PCS / BMS master.

B2 · manual, fail-safe

The operator enters the setpoints in the local BMS GUI. If every link is lost, the BMS goes to standby.

Partners & integrations

Built with the plant's equipment and the market's data.

Chika is deployed with the operator of the reference plant and integrates the equipment and data providers already on site and on the market.
